Replace a Laptop Battery

Tools needed

  • • Small Phillips/Torx screwdriver
  • • Plastic pry tool

Safety first

  • • Power off and unplug the charger.
  • • Never puncture or bend a battery. If it is swollen, handle minimally and recycle properly.

Steps

  1. 1External battery: slide the release latches and swap it in — done.
  2. 2Internal battery: remove the bottom-panel screws and gently pry off the panel.
  3. 3Disconnect the battery connector from the board, unscrew the battery, and lift it out.
  4. 4Fit the new battery, reconnect, reattach the panel, and charge to 100% before first use.
